Explore London from SANDERSON

SANDERSON LONDON SITS IN THE CREATIVE HEART OF FITZROVIA, WHERE ART, DESIGN, DINING, AND CULTURE COME TOGETHER. SURROUNDED BY THE ENERGY OF SOHO AND THE SOPHISTICATION OF MARYLEBONE, IT’S THE PERFECT BASE TO EXPERIENCE A MORE LOCAL SIDE OF LONDON.

Sanderson’s Fitzrovia postcode puts guests within easy reach of some of London’s most significant cultural institutions. The British Museum is a 10-minute walk north — one of the world’s great free collections, with over eight million objects spanning human history. The Wallace Collection, tucked into a Marylebone townhouse a short distance away, is one of London’s quietest treasures: Rembrandts, Fragonards and armour in a house that hasn’t changed in a century. West End theatres are within a 15-minute walk, and the Barbican, Southbank and National Gallery are all easily reached by Tube from Oxford Circus.

Fitzrovia itself is the starting point — a neighbourhood of independent restaurants, design studios and creative businesses that sits between the noise of the West End and the calm of Marylebone. Soho is five minutes west: cocktail bars, live music, late-night dining and the kind of street energy that makes London feel properly alive. Marylebone High Street is a 15-minute walk northeast — elegant, unhurried, with the best independent bookshops, delis and boutiques in central London. Bloomsbury lies north, built around garden squares and literary history, home to the British Museum and a cluster of independent publishers. Mayfair is accessible to the south for luxury dining, galleries and flagship shopping.

DINING & NIGHTLIFE

Fitzrovia has one of the quietest reputations and one of the best restaurant streets in London — Charlotte Street has been the neighbourhood’s dining backbone for decades, lined with independent restaurants from Greek to Japanese, Turkish to British. The streets immediately around Sanderson are dense with independent cafés, bakeries and brunch spots for daytime, while the bars and restaurants of Soho are minutes away for evenings. For something more considered, the dining rooms of Marylebone and Mayfair are a short cab or Tube ride.

Sanderson is five minutes from Soho’s cocktail bars, speakeasies and live music venues — close enough to walk home, far enough to feel like a retreat from it. The hotel team is happy to share current favourites.

SHOPPING

Oxford Circus is a three-minute walk, making Sanderson one of the best-located hotels in London for shopping. Regent Street and Oxford Street are immediately accessible for flagship brands. Carnaby Street, a five-minute walk southwest, offers a more independent and curated mix of British brands and lifestyle stores. For a slower pace, Marylebone High Street is the neighbourhood’s best-kept retail secret — independent bookshops, specialist food stores and fashion boutiques with none of Oxford Street’s crowds.

AT SANDERSON

Inside, Sanderson is as interesting as its neighbourhood. The Long Bar is one of London’s great hotel bars — come for a cocktail before heading out, or stay for the evening. Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea has become one of the city’s most-talked-about experiences, served in the hotel’s surreal, design-led setting. The courtyard garden is one of central London’s rare outdoor spaces — a proper retreat when the city gets loud.
